From Nebraska Watchdog:
Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha has filed paperwork with the Nebraska Secretary of State to run for District 11, his old seat representing north Omaha.
Chambers filed his paperwork late Tuesday with the Secretary of State’s office.
An iconic political figure known for his rhetorical and legislative skills, Chambers was term-limited out of the seat in 2009 after serving 38 years. State law allows senators to seek their seats again after sitting out a term.
Chambers would be challenging Democrat Brenda Council, who now holds the seat. Chambers has supported Council — a former Omaha school board and City Council member — in her bids for public office. Both candidates are popular in the district, setting up an interesting race.
