The Grand Theatre in Downtown Grand Island was fitted with its new sign on March 1, 2012 - a sign that replicated its original sign from 1937. When the weather warms up, beautiful art deco tile will be attached to the facade.
Jim Pohl created this wonderful blend of the present and the future Grand Theatre.

Check out this behind-the-scenesĀ look with NET News reporter and producer Perry Stoner, who’s working on a documentary and radio series about home-schooling in Nebraska. It’s scheduled to premiere Friday, April 13th, 2012.
In the photos above, Stoner and videographer Ray Meints interact with the Kautz family from North Platte, Neb. Mother Tara Kautz home-schools her three children, including Christopher and Josiah (top photo), and she teaches art at the Sandhills Home School Co-op, where home-schooled students from the surrounding area gather every other week for classes that supplement their home education.

From the Associated Press:
A measure designed to help Nebraska cities attract film, television and commercial productions has advanced out of a legislative committee.
The Legislature’s Urban Affairs Committee voted Thursday to move the measure (LB863) to the floor for debate.
The bill by Lincoln Sen. Colby Coash would apply to more than 50 Nebraska communities that qualify for state-based local option economic development money. Cities could use the money to attract producers.
Coash says the bill was inspired by a movie production in Valentine. Last year, the city council awarded $5,000 to a local hotel, catering service and van rental company that served the film crew. The production company invested $40,000 to $45,000.
The bill has won support from Omaha-born film director Alexander Payne and Omaha-based television actor and movie producer John Beasley.
