I saw this sad teddy face down in the junk at the auto graveyard (u-pull-it) and I thought that there must be a sad kid somewhere who lost their favorite bear.

Horse racing in Lincoln is entering its final days for the near future. After this summer’s racing season ends, the track will be folded into the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s redevelopment of the former state fairgrounds. The loss of a Lincoln track is a major setback for Nebraska’s racing industry, but there are new plans to keep horses running in the capital city.

Husker running backs coach Ron Brown has become a controversial figure recently for his public stance on homosexuality after he testified before the Omaha City Council regarding an anti-discrimination ordinance, which later passed. In this article from the Lincoln Journal Star, Brown explains why he won’t be attending a similar meeting in Lincoln:
Ron Brown will remain on the sideline this time.
Concerned a media frenzy surrounding his involvement would draw attention from the issue, the Nebraska running backs coach said Saturday that he won’t testify against a Lincoln proposal that would add gender identity and sexual orientation to the city’s list of protected classes.
“A number of fellow Christians who have been working on legislation and working on the nuts and bolts of this issue told me, ‘Look, there’s going to be so much media attention over you, it’s going to take away from the issue,’” Brown told the Journal Star.
“Everything inside of me said, ‘I don’t want the media to stop me from going.’ Then I realized it was going to be a circus, and everybody already knows how I think. My views stand the same.
“As I prayed about it, I thought it was not in the Lord’s will for me to testify.”

Cora Rasp is an Omaha stylist and blogger and the founder of Coriander. On her tumblr, she’s chronicling through pictures her latest project: One Dress for One Month.
For the month of May I have decided to wear only one dress for the entire month and document how I wear it differently ever day. (Yes, I will be washing it throughout the month.)
Often I find myself wanting new clothes. Probably too often. An event, no matter how big or small, is usually all the excuse I need to buy something new to wear. The trouble with that is I have a closet full of really great articles of clothing that I’ve only worn once or twice and to me it kinda feels wrong. What a waste. I feel like buying something new every time is a cop-out of creativity. Clothing is such a fun artistic medium to play around with and usually the best outfits arrive when you need to “work with what you got.”
